Seeking extra learning time for your child?

We offer both individual and group tutoring for all subject areas and grade levels. Our sessions are delivered by tutors with significant experience as educators. Sessions take place at a mutually agreed upon location, such as a public library, making the commute easier on both ends.

When you contact us, we don't focus on the "what should have been done", instead let's talk about your child's exciting future and move forward!

Tutoring
Math

If your child is struggling with any aspect of math, it is best to get help sooner rather than later. Math is taught as a spiral in its instruction, meaning that each unit builds upon itself each progressing year. As a result, we want to ensure students have strong foundational knowledge and have skills to be successful.

We have certified teachers with a passion for math and can teach your child in a way they understand. We can recommend assessment for Dyscalculia, and provide strategies to make math easier for your child. We can recommend math classes at the high school level so your child has options for their post secondary education.

We also work on study skills and exam prep (PAT's. Diplomas, and final exams).

  • Assessment recommendations (screenings for Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, ADHD).

  • Strategy suggestions for both school and home settings.

  • Understanding the text (comprehension) rather than just decoding (just reading the words).

Developmental Behavioural Support/Developmental Behavioural Aide Program

A Behaviour Developmental Aid program is typically a 6 month contract with one therapist (OT, SLP, Psychology, Behaviour), and one behavioural aide that is focused on 2-3 achievable objectives within one behavioural or developmental area. It is a consultation model that includes assessment, priority setting, parent/family coaching, a written plan, a data collection system, coordination with other supports, and (if appropriate) direct intervention.

Whether you have FFCD support or not, we can provide a Behaviour Developmental Aid program  for you.

Education Consultation

Are you concerned that your child may not be achieving to the best of their abilities or at the grade level expectations? Are you confused or frustrated with your child's IPP? We can help!

At Exceptional Abilities, we provide support as parents navigate all the educational choices and supports available for their child. We assess achievements and aim to explain and improve IPP goals. We can further evaluate the need to seek a psychoeducational assessment to determine if there is a learning disability or strength, and suggest modifications that may be used at home and school.

More than just tutoring! Here at Exceptional Abilities, we work not only with children, but with parents, teachers, sports organizations, and other professionals to educate and develop programming that meets the needs of all participants.
